Harry Song leaves Five Star Music, plans to start own company ‘Alter Plate’

Harrysong has left Five Star Music Group, a record label owned by Emeka Okonkwo, a businessman and brother of KCee, Limpopo singer.

The high-life/R&B singer, whose real name is Harrison Tare Okiri, told Planet TV that his contract with the record label “expired a long time ago”.

Harrysong, who has written for several Nigerian artistes, also revealed that he has set up a new music company known as Alter Plate.

“We are unveiling a new platform, it’s a music platform. It’s not a label, its a music company owned by Harry Song. It’s not supposed to be surprising. My contract expired a long time ago.

“I was signed as an artiste under Five Star music for writing, music directing, vocal coaching,” said Harrysong.

The singer further complained about a certain lack of appreciation from some unnamed artistes, whom he says, often feel entitled when he “helps” them.

“Doing all these for everyone – both Five Star and outside the platform – is not a problem for me. Sometimes it bothers me that we are beating farther than it is.

“What bothers me is not the work. What bothers me is the appreciation. You are helping someone but the person feels he’s helping you.

“You write a song for someone and the person is telling you that if I don’t sing your song, you won’t blow.

“It’s childishness. I don’t know,” he added.

Before joining Five Star, Harrysong was signed to Kevin Luciano’s Question Mark Records.
